Happy Easter! I know this is a Sunday, and therefore a day of "resting"... but I couldn't help getting started on my dress. The first part is finished! ♥ I'll take pictures tomorrow!

All the pieces, doubled up and spread out. I think this purple will go very nice with the black.

YAY! My first attempt at... I don't know what that's called. It's a bit crooked on the one side, but I'm not worried about it.

It's done! I just need to add ruffles to the bottom and then make the black corset over-dress. Whoo! It's not too far off~. ^^

This is what I decided to make as our anniversary dress. I'm doing it in purple, rather than the red. I'm really pleased with the fabric choices! Instead of just sewing the ribbon on, as the image seems to indicate... (I haven't checked the pattern yet...) I'm going to make loops so I can switch out the fabric. I also made a nice fabric purchase... Oh, I should just upload pictures~ ^^

Think it will work out nicely? He likes more of a traditional goth, and I figured Purple X Black is pretty goth. I'm keeping the burgundy ribbon, just because I might want to wear the corset dress with a red dress one day...

YAY! I'd really like to find photos of the Meta AB set so I can replicate it in a sweet way... But I just don't know if it's worth the time.... I'll wait until my new Gosurori's arrive!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH KEIGHSIE!!!!! ♥

Garrrr.... So I finally get to see his angry side... Not cool. He said he was stressed, but I'm still hurt. And it's no excuse for taking it out on me. I don't yell at him (to the best of my knowledge... if i have, he's not expressed any concern over it...)...

And to be honest... I was trying something different. The same variations in our conversations get a tad bit monotonous after awhile. And I'm still upset, but no longer able to express anger to him anymore... *grr to love!* It's too close to our anniversary for this... *sigh* Watch, this will be where it all starts unravelling. And then we'll both be alone. *cries* DO NOT WANT TO BE ALONE.

in other news, yesterday (the same day...) My mom and brother argued. He failed all of his classes except Phys Ed and band. I was amused at first, even through the first part of their arguement. It's usually the other way around... But then he (as usual) gets indignant and selfish. He doesn't think about what he's saying. Mom started crying. And it upsets me, sure, but... I would assume I'd not just feel awkward... But that's the only thing I felt. I've been saying that I need to get out of here. I do. This place is not healthy. No one gets beat, true. No one gets molested... But if I don't end up with some horrible psychological problems soon, I'll be really surprised. (no, its not just over that. Don't worry, I'm not that stupid.)

Someone stole my quiz in Math class. I'm one of the few people that does their work, and someone takes it and copies off of me. I WORKED HARD FOR MY ANSWERS DAMMIT! That's unfair that they get a free-ride. *sigh*

My room is clean now... That's good. I'm thinking of moving a large majority of these posts to another journal. I'm less than thrilled with this one, and the negativity attached. If I don't fit in right off the bat, and then keep trying, it's obviously a crime. Plus, its bad to use your name as a username, or so I've been told. Anywhoo...

On the bright side (lol, wut?) I'm planning on making a new dress for when I go out with Freedom (Khaos, whatever you want to be called...) for our one year anniversary. Hopefully I can make it hard to take off and then we'll spend time outside of his room. *not a sex toy* Oh well. Here's the fabric I'm planning on using.

I don't think I'll use too much lace with it. It might overpower the lovely pattern. I'm thinking ruffles instead. I'm thinking of trying to mimic some brand... I'm really not impressed by Baby the Stars Shine Bright anymore... Maybe like this one from Angelic Pretty:

It was a decent reply. The girl had a year experience as mod, so... that's awesome! ^^ But there was a comment to the effect of, " but most importantly, I have common sense"... I really don't know if she was just making a statement, or if she has something against me? Or if i'm misinterpreting it altogether...
In any case, I might make a site elsewheres on teh internets, as my boyfriend and I are exchanging the gift of web domains for our anniversary. ^^ *hearts*

ok, now im completely irritated. it's not enough that this girl commented on his myspace...
I joined up on the board that he frequents at his request. She's there too! Its fine that she's there, really, I don't care, but when she makes comments to him that are slightly suggestive, considering the conversation, I can't help but get upset... And After dozens of introduce posts... (which btw, the form has no gender column) she posts after mine and says, "isnt it funny how these things never say gender?". Which insults me. Granted, it COULD just be an observation, but really, if you're going to be even slightly affectionate to my boyfriend and then question my gender when he says i belong to him, don't expect me to be nice.

AND HE'S MET HER IN REAL LIFE. I know he wouldn't cheat, but I hate the idea. I HATE IT.
She's closer to him (both in PA), and probably knows more about him, given he's been on the board 2 years, and i've only been dating him 1 (but known him for 1 and 6 months, he will claim 3 years though, lol)

I FEEL SO THREATENED! This is my man, the one man out of billions that makes me happy and safe. Please not to be taking him. I know i'm jealous, but he's my lover, my light... my angel! Why to be so subtly catty? If he belongs to you then you better damn well tell me, because I'm not about to get cheated on again.

I know i'm just being paranoid, but all the girls posting on my boyfriends myspace are hurting my heart! He replies playfully (but not flirty), and I know that's just his nature, but... It hurts.
Yeah, I'm sure this is stupid, some guys are actually out there cheating, and i know he's not. or at least hope.
I just don't want him gone. He's the best thing since... AIR.
I love him so much that tiny comments hurt me deep. And he might fall for someone with an IQ over 160, so... If those girls are any kind of smart, unlike me, he might enjoy them.

Come to think of it, I don't know why he's with me. I'm four hours away. Why keep me? What do I have that noone else can offer? I'm stupid and uncoordinated and horribly naive, short, not very attractive... What's to like?

Yesterday, the wireless internet that I was pilfering died. Not just a loss of signal, but a termination of service. There are no other wireless connection points near me, and so I fear I shall only be able to access my account at school now. *sad*

So I had this fantastic dream last night...
My family went to TOKYO!!! *yes!*
But it was odd.... All of the sections of town were separated by large multicolored mosaic tunnels. (which were... like 2 people wide) And then I went to BABY.
BABY... i suppose at this point in my dream, we can safely say it is not based on fact... It seemed as if it was just getting off the ground. Like... one blouse, and a shoddy dress. I don't get it... Why would I dream something so nice as terrible?

Oh well...

I haven't included photographed instructions for the Obi because I was unclear as to how to make one. I can show you my attempt and how I accomplished it, but I will never claim it to be professional or correct.
A side note: I enjoy sewing and I have the ability to produce decent looking ensembles, but it doesn't make me a master seamstress. There are many other people with much more talent than I so please use this as a "beginner's tutorial". Thank you!

This was the original design. I couldn't stick to it because I ended up owing a lot of taxes, so there was no lace. At a price of 3 dollars per yard, I could have gas in my car for as much as would cover the creation of the Obi. Maybe next issue I will be able to create something more ornate for you. Here is the final design:

The first step would be to find a fabric that you like, something that will fit your own unique style. Mine was a subtle white heart print on light pink fabric. If you're unable to tell, I lean more towards an amarori style (sweet lolita). I bought 6 yards of the fabric, and I was fine, but if you are larger than 5 foot tall and 125 lbs, then you will most likely need more, as I used all but 4 inches of my fabric. You will also need about 3 yards of another fabric for an obi possibly more depending on your size. Tradition says the colors should contrast, but lolitas generally coordinate, so it's a decision that can be left up only to the person who is creating the yukata. Here is an example of my fabric.

Below is an MS paint made diagram. You will need to cut the pieces shown to your size. If your size is smaller or larger, there is a pattern to the measurements, so if you can figure it out and subtract or add, it should work fine for you. If following my instructions is difficult, please look at Simplicity 4080. It will serve as a nice base for any design you have that involves a yukata.

I noticed something I could have made a little more clear. The first width is only applicable to the top part of the front piece, where as the second width column should tell you how wide it will be at the bottom of the same piece.

(If you wanted to make the yukata front and back pieces about 2 feet longer, you could have a real yukata. You also have the option of extending the sleeve one foot longer and making a more elegant yukata.)

This is what your cut out pieces should look like:

This is the front piece. Please have two of these cut.

This is the bottom part of your neck line. Please have 2 cut.

This is your back piece. You can click this to zoom in, there is the indent there. You MUST have 2 of these.

These are your sleeves.

These are the two piece that will make up the top part of your neckline. They are folded over at the moment, please forgive the picture. It is the only example of those pieces that I have.

Onward...
I like to get the small things out of the way first, so we'll begin with the collar. Sew two end together. (right side to right side. BTW, a right side is the side with the print on it. some fabrics don't have a wrong side [side with no print] so its no big deal. but some do) then we will iron the seam down to make it pretty and less clunky when we sew it to something else later.

You will want to sew your two pointy ended neckband pieces to that strip of fabric as well. One on each side, and sew right side to right side. Please make sure that the pointed end is at the bottom of your strip of fabric when it is done.

Now you should sew the backsides together, right side to right side. It should look something like this:

After that is completed, you should connect the top parts of the
front pieces to the top parts of the back piece. Please remember to keep the neckline open, and attach the fabrics right side to right side.

This image below may be a little confusing. I tried to "outline" the collar as best I could with MS paint, to show you certain details of the process. You'll want to have ironed the whole neckband piece/ collar in half width-way, and then you will place it on the body of your yukata, right above where the indentation on the back piece is.

You will pin this all the way down until you reach the part on the front where the slant stops and the straight part begins.
When you reach the part where the slant ends, please gradually make the piece that shows smaller until you can no longer see it. It should end before the straight part. (I know that was confusing, and unfortunately, I dont have a picture of it. I just kept going on mine until i reached the bottom and it looks perfectly fine.)

So now that we have the collar attached, we can begin the sleeves. I closed the back end of my sleeve so that I could store items in them. If you are looking for accuracy, I suggest that you not sew the back of the sleeve together. Sewing the back can create problems if you have difficulty putting a yukata on in the first place.

I ironed all the way around the sleeve fabric. I suggest you do the same, and also sew around all of it. It will make it much easier later.

This is a close up of the rounded corner. I didn't know how else to finish the sleeves, so i ironed it this way. It worked out fine, but if you have a better way, please try that.

What I did for the sleeve, (because i did it a more difficult way) was find center and measure 11 inches out to each side. (Please refer the the measuring tape below. That is the right side of the center.) Since you've already hemmed around, you pretty much just need to mark that place on both sides of your center crease. (If you're closing both sides, you need to do this on the other side of the sleeve as well.)

Something authentic to compare it to: Below is a Happi Coat that a friend in Japan sent to me. The sleeves are longer and wider, but since we're making this in a lolita style, excess is appropriate and suggested.

For the sleeve, you'll want to sew right side to right side and ONLY ON THE TOP HALF OF THE SHOULDER. If you start to find you're closing the sleeve, you have gone too far. It should look this way:

This is the side of the yukata. you should go down 4 or 5 inches possibly, depending on your size (i did 3 1/2 because i am small) and then sew the sides together right side to right side.

If you dont want frill or lace, you can hem the bottom now. It will look something along the lines of this:

I decided to rip that seam out when I thought of ruffles, so here are 2 pictures of it without ruffles. (It's short, yes, but you will need an underskirt. It was part of the original design to have one. If you own a bustle skirt, it would do nicely here.)

This is the front ^ and back v without the ruffle. I will be retaking pictures soon and will replace these.

The two above are of it with ruffles. A much needed improvement, unless of course I had owned a better underdress. That concludes this Wa-Loli tutorial.

I just got my "military" lolita dress done. It's really cute! I had some trouble lining up the ribbons on the dress, but... my breasts are crooked anyway. It was bound to look awkward. lol. Tonight is the Military Ball, so I'll definitely have some pictures. ^^ Well... I had to work really hard to get my shift changed at work to go to this thing, so it better be worth it. If it's not, then I got a dress out of it! ^^. I'm really pleased with it... can you tell? Well, I should eat. All I had today were some doritos, 3 pretzel sticks with cream cheese, and... that's it. no. I had macaroni & Cheese. But still. I think I shall make some Ramen. My next sewing project should be that Wa-loli Yukata that I need to make for Antique Child. Well... Goodnight (morning?)

I posted on EGL about something, and ended up being a complete jerk to someone. My browser didn't display something correctly, and I ended up taking offense to something they said. I feel horrible. They forgave me though. I still feel terrible. I guess I should refresh a page a couple of time before I post, huh? GAWD. But I feel like such a jerk still. I hope they aren't too angry at me.
